Butterfly Card

Today was going rather slowly until the 365 Card Challenge was posted for the day (#277). This was a real challenge for me: a square card with two more squares somewhere on the card. I used this as another way to stretch my skills with multiple patterns on a single card. It is also the challenge at ABC Challenges (#47). Finally, I wanted to stick to the rules for the Cut it Up Challenge (#29): use pink and a die cut.

Here is what I came up with:

I started with a light blue square card, and I added different sizes and shapes from a pack of paper by Autumn Leaves. The color combinations included: white, yellow, pink, blue, and red. I added three squares offset on the right side of the card. It is a layer of light blue card stock, white cardstock, and pink patterned paper already used on the card.

What to put in the square?

I cut a butterfly in black glitter from the Cricut Cartrdige, Live Simply. I cut only the background. Then, I folded it in half, and popped the butterfly up on the square.

The beauty of these challenge blogs is that it helps us become better crafters.
